It is with deep sorrow that, on our very first post, we have to say goodbye to Jamie Urquhart.
Beginnings and ends often tend to be interlinked, and this was as unexpected as the grace we received in the limited time we spent with him.
Jamie was the crucible of our business model. Through his long experience with ARM, and his unique and friendly manner, he took abstract licensing practices and grounded them in the realities of the people who make them happen. He inspired and guided us, taught us, showed us how to swim in the deep, and how to create win-win partnerships.
Looking back, the lessons that struck deepest were about people, not about the business itself: hire for breadth and autonomy, hire people who are, or can become, better than you, and reward their families, for making the biggest sacrifices.
We aim to honour his intellectual legacy in every way we can. Wherever we fly, he'll be in our minds and in our hearts.
